BUILT
ONCE.
BUILT RIGHT.
Above-standard structural carpentry for builders and clients who prioritise long-term performance and structural integrity over minimum compliance.
Above-standard carpentry. By design.
Strava Group is a specialist carpentry division led by Stavrow (Stav) — a licensed carpenter and licensed builder who started his apprenticeship at 15.
Over more than a decade, the focus has been on understanding how buildings behave over time: where they fail, and why certain construction methods do not last.
In most cases, failures are not the result of poor materials. They come from methods that meet minimum standards without accounting for cumulative tolerances, timber behaviour, and long-term load transfer.

Our Services
Wall Framing
Structural wall framing where every stud is checked, every plate is straight, and every fixing is done twice.
Subfloor Framing
Squeak-free subfloors built on a level datum — because squeaking floors are a construction failure, not a maintenance issue.
Roof Framing
Roof structures framed straight, set with controlled pre-camber, and fixed so they stay that way under load.
Fit Out
Internal carpentry where the quality of the frame becomes visible — in the doors that hang straight and the reveals that are consistent.
Cladding
External cladding installed over a true, plumb, and level substrate — because straight cladding requires a straight frame behind it.
Decking & Pergolas
Decks and pergolas built to the same structural standard as the main frame — because a deck that moves is a deck that fails.
Wall Removal
Load bearing and structural wall removal done with the ceiling still attached — temporary support, correct beams, proper load transfer.
Restumping
Stump replacement and floor levelling for Sydney's older homes — before the floor slope becomes impossible to ignore.
Why we build differently
Base Accuracy First
Set-out errors compound at every stage above them. We use true diagonal verification rather than 3-4-5, and correct level at slab — not disguised at top-plate. If the base is wrong, it cannot be corrected later without compromise.
Tension-Based Bracing Only
Traditional compression bracing loses effectiveness as timber seasons and fixings loosen. We use tension-based systems exclusively — they actively restrain movement rather than reacting after it occurs, and maintain effectiveness over the life of the building.
Nails and Structural Screws. Both.
Nail-only framing is the standard. The connections hold initially but loosen as timber seasons and cyclic loading works the joints. Every frame we build uses rear nailing, side fixing, and structural screws to all end studs — noggings included. A typical frame can be knocked apart with a hammer before it is braced. Ours cannot.
No Liquid Nails
Liquid nails becomes brittle, does not accommodate movement, and debonds under cyclic loading. That leads directly to squeaking floors. We use polyurethane adhesive exclusively — it cushions, flexes, and holds over time.

Quality Carpentry vs Cheap Carpentry: What You're Actually Paying For
The gap between cheap carpentry and quality carpentry is not mostly the price. It's the specification. Here's what actually changes when you pay for above-standard work.

Why Subfloors Squeak (and Why It's Not a Maintenance Issue)
A squeaking floor is not something that develops over time. It was built that way. The cause is almost always preventable at construction stage — and almost always comes down to what went under the first sheet.

How Much Does Restumping Cost in Sydney? (A Realistic Guide)
Partial restumping typically runs $3,000–$8,000 in Sydney. Full restumping of a standard bungalow is $15,000–$25,000. Here's what drives the difference, what the job actually involves, and when you should stop waiting.
